Tangata Atumotu welcomes Passionate community leader
Growing up, Caroline Wolfgramm’s Father was a strong leader in the Tongan community.
She is now excited to be able to play her part in guiding her community towards living well and being healthy, after being named as Tangata Atumotu's newest board member.
Caroline Wolfgramm is a familiar face to many at the City Mission. For over three years, she has worked the reception desk, coordinated volunteers and assisted with human resources.
Tangata Atumotu will be Caroline’s first board position.
She says she is very humbled to have secured a position at the board table, alongside other strong and accomplished women.
“I love being around women, who are so driven in what they do.”
Caroline says she is eager to help connect her community with the services available to them, and those offered by Tangata Atumotu.
“I am driven by the community and helping them, to raise awareness of what services are available to them.”
“Awareness is the best way we can help our people.”
When it comes to the work of TangataAtumotu, Caroline is thrilled at the way in which every aspect of a person’s health and wellbeing is addressed.
“I love that one door opens and that could lead to another one opening after that. It’s not the end of the road for them.”
After a childhood spent watching her Father lead their Tongan community both in Canterbury and across the South Island, it is fitting her Father was the one that put her name forward for the position.
“I always helped him out with the community-based work, which opened my eyes at an early age to the issues and challenges facing our community.”
Caroline says she is also passionate about working with the younger generation to help them reconnect with their Pacific Island roots.
When the Mother of two does have spare time, which is not often, she is helping out at a home craft group, run by her Mum. Oh, and she also takes photographs at special events.
