Covid champions

As part of our contribution to the wider Pasifika COVID collective response, we are sharing the views of some local Pasifika leaders on the vaccine. These views are being represented through illustrations with captions from our covid champions on why they are getting vaccinated and will be used in other media to encourage our Pasifika community to get vaccinated.

Pastor Mike Sikuri - Seventh - Day Adventist Church 

Pastor Mike Sikuri of the Seventh - Day Adventist (SDA) church is one of our COVID Champions. Pastor Mike, who oversees the work of the SDA church across the whole of the South Island, believes leaders have a responsibility to show the way.

 Pastor Mike says that while we all have free will, the choices we make can have an impact on our community and those around us.

 “We are interdependent of one another and that calls for us to be responsible… what we do affects other people as well. Because it's viral makes it much more transmissible".

 "A simple way to do our part and get through this together is to get vaccinated. We are fortunate to live in a country where there is a lot of support and help on vaccinations".
